So this is random, but I thought I would post it anyway.
I was reading in Genesis last night and something popped out at me. I'm sure that different things pop out at different people at different times depending on their situation in life that day, week, month, or decade (I just didn't want to say year). Anyway, Gen 29 is talking about how Jacob (Abraham's grandson) is going to his uncle's place and when he gets there he meets this girl. She's a shepherdess, she's really pretty, and he really likes her. So what does he do about it? Does he ask her out? Does he give her flowers? Does he say nice things to her and try to find out if they have anything in common? Does he analyze every aspect of their conversation wondering if this could be "the one"? Nope. He just reaches over and kisses her and then begins to weep aloud. How romantic. Well, kinda, not really, but at least he just cuts to the chase! He found a way to cut through all the fluff and express to her what he was feeling. In actuality, this kiss Jacob gave the girl was probably one of greeting, like a kiss to each cheek.
So, I don't know that I really have a point. It mostly just made me chuckle a little bit about how romance these days is so complicated. I mean, he did end up married to the girl. Whether he was happy though, remains to be seen.
I'm not even going to get into how Isaac got his wife. Ha! But if you want to read for yourself, Gen 24 will tell you everything. Just remember that Isaac was a pretty special dude and that no ordinary wife was gonna cut it. Ok, enough said. Have a blessed day!
