Joy, joy, joy joy, down in my heart

So, I just wanted to share a couple praises.

Okay, as you may know, I am in the middle of moving. I just applied to Multinomah a couple weeks ago, was accepted, but earlier this week I found out that I had about $325 in deposits due by today (Friday). Unfortunately for Laura, no money could be found. Well, I am not the type of person to stress about things, so I just started praying hard for the funds.

Mom decided to buy my furniture from me (dual blessing...she needed the furniture, I needed to get rid of the furniture, ha! Yay God!), Dad gave me some birthday money (very late, but what a blessing). Still needed another $100.

Anyway, so one of my friends had some boxes for me and I had agreed to come pick them up this morning. I was going to go from there over to the school, give them the money I did have and then beg for a time allowance. Okay, well on my way to the friend's home, I suddenly remembered that several months ago I had squirreled a couple hundred dollars in a savings account...Now I know that most of you would not have forgotten a detail like that, but I don't have the same kind of memory everyone else does ;) This was a blessing today! because I didn't remember until today that his money was available, I got to feel the excitement of "Late in the midnight hour, God's going to turn it around". Woohoo! It just happens that my bank is just down the street from my friend's house.

So, I picked up the boxes and headed over to the school, singing praises as I went, so excited, so grateful, so overflowing with joy!! (Do you ever notice that there are not enough ways to type expressions of joy and excitement?)

Fast forward through lots of traffic and all the way across town (84th and Glisan, my future home). I parked the van and said a prayer before getting out. The receptionist directed me where to go *deep breath*. Moments later I presented the money to the cashier. We talked about how I was going to be paying for my education, she encouraged me and we found things to laugh about. It was a nice visit. She told me about some on campus employment opportunities and asked if I had a car. My heart sank a little as I thought about my poor car, sick in the "car hospital, sticking it's tongue out and x's over it's headlamps. I informed her that when school starts, I will not have a car, but that I have friends with cars and that I know how to ride a bus. She nodded and smiled.

My phone rang (rude little thing. It never rings when I am free, and always rings when I am in the middle of something) and since I did not know the number, I went ahead and answered it. It was the guy who has been working on my car. (I had called a few days ago and he hadn't ever returned my call). So, I asked him if I could call him back in a little bit and that I was right in the middle of something - no prob says he. (I had to chuckle. Usually when I call, he asks if he can call me back, but this time it was the other way around...). So, the cashier and I went about finishing our business, and I was a bundle of excited nerves, I think even my hair was wiggling.

My day already had a huge blessing in it and I was about to head home and start packing, but I remembered I had agreed to return a call, so I did. What I heard floored me...in a good way. My car had a new transmission and would be ready to pick up when ever I had the cash!!!! Oh my word!!! It was like shaken, pressed down, overflowing blessing!!! Not only do I get to have school, I get to have car too. (when I placed the call, I had walked into the ladies restroom and was going to splash cold water on my face, but when I heard the news, I just started jumping up and down and praising God....right there by the sink with the phone still at my ear...I think I am still shaking a little).

So, I got into the van, turned up the praise music, called my mom and then happily (despite the 5 MPH traffic on I-84 drove home.

So, as you may have gathered by now, I am happy. I just want to share this happiness with everyone. I lift my eyes to the mountain, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of Heaven and Earth.

I just got home late from my Friday night movie and Greek study with Brock, and I'm finally checking my friends' blogs, and there was a new post on yours. Also, I am glad to rejoice with you, on how the Lord is carrying you in His hands and providing for you.

The other thing I wanted to say is that I am looking forward to having you as a near neighbor. I live on the west slope of Mount Tabor, close to the entrance to the park on Salmon. I drive by Multnomah Bible School nearly every day. My church is at Glisan and 32nd, and the seminary is on Glisan and about 86th. Anyway, maybe this will provide some opportunities for fellowship at coffeehouses on or near campus.

By the way, if you get this tonight, Brock was going to call you in the morning and let you know that we're not going downtown tomorrow… we need some space to rest, retreat, feed on the Word and pray. We thank you and your Mom for praying for us last Saturday. As you know, that day was truly blest!

Go with God, dear sister!

Romanos...yay! Neighbors! That adds even more happiness to my day. I would love to do coffee (or tea) in fellowship. Maybe you will be able to help me with my Greek sometimes too?

Thank you for informing me about tomorrow morning. It is I who have been blessed by this opportunity to pray for you and Brock. All praise belongs to God, but you know that already ;)

Jerry, I too love it when this happens. I have seen God's provision time and time again in various situations, but it is always a wonder to behold. You are so right on the money...God is awesome!

Tom, Olivia, and Jerry. God bless you on this journey you are embarking on. May the Lord watch over and bless you and provide you with opportunity to bless and love others in the name and by the power of Almighty God, Jesus Christ. Let the wounds of the land break your heart, but also make you stronger. Let the hurt of the people touch you so that you can in turn touch them with the love of God....love that sacrificed His only Son...for God is Love. God grant you traveling mercies, safe travel and strength in body. Lord protect these servants from harm. They are Yours; You bought them at such a high price. As they minister in N'Orleans, let them not forget that love. In Jesus holy name, amen.

Here I am lurking again. I was about to close and not repond, yet again. Then I reconsidered. Your story made me smile, thank you so much for sharing the joy God has given you. I am so excited for your journey, isn't is funny that when we are doing what God want's us to do, things just somehow come together. Remember this time, this afirmation from God that you are on the right path. Your journey with school may be hard and you may question if you are doing the right thing. Keep a snapshot of this week close to your heart.

Laura you are such an encouragement to so many people, thank you for your contagious smile.

Your sister,
Jojo
