I am in Alaska

Hello all!

I have safely arrived in Alaska. It took 4 days driving 12 hours a day to get here. It was tiring, but incredible at the same time. The camping was adventurous. Our first night there was snow and we were super cold. On our second day of driving we counted 13 black bears along the road, making us a little nervous about camping, but they stayed away. However, we did experence a hoar frost on our second night and woke up to our sleeping bags frozen to the tent walls. One girl's hair was even frozen to the tent! Our last night camping was on Kluane Lake (see pic). It was lovely and calm. The lake was still pretty frozen over, but the climate was moderate and tenting on the sand was super comfy...well, more comfy than the rocks on night 1 and permafrost on night 2. :)

It is beautiful here and I have met many wonderful people. In my first day at camp, I have been in meetings all day, but that's not too bad considering the view out the window is amazing. We toured the grounds and I have seen where I will be living for the next couple months. Rustic is the word that comes to mind. I will upload pics when I get a chance.

Thank you for your prayers. I am sure it is by your prayers that we arrived safely (and a day in advance of our goal!). I have discovered a couple needs I am having that I didn't know about previously. Although the people here are wonderful, I need to hear from you! I am already feeling a little bit cut off. Internet is a great way for immediate contact, but even better would be letters and pictures and encouraging notes.

Camp is looking like it is going to be great!
If you are able and want to support this ministry, please do. I would appreciate your prayers and still am in need of financial support. The goal is to raise $1000 in the next 2 months. (See previous post for details). Thank you and God bless you!
More posts to follow, check back often. :)
